Blog post 14

I liked the painting number seven the most. I felt like it was a birthday party for a young girl with some friends. The coloring was brighter then all of the rest of the paintings. I liked seeing the balloons and the birthday cake. I am a big fan of birthdays and parties so I could relate to this one the most. I loved the color pink in the painting I felt like it brought out happiness. I also that the dresses the girls were wearing were fun and fascinating to look at. It looks like she got a lot of presents including a dog but I don't understand why the birthday girl doesn't have a smile on her face. It seems like everyone is trying to get her to have a good time but she is not smiling. I like how this piece of art makes you really sit and analyze what could be going on. I felt like all of the other paintings were a bit disturbing. I didn't love them, but when I came to this one I felt like there was better color and happier things going on in the picture. Maybe if I were in a sad depressing mood then I would have liked the other paintings.

In the first art piece it is the same picture but with out the birthday decorations and the color pink. I didn't mind this piece of art but it was a bit boring to me because nothing was going on in the picture. I did not like the fourth art piece. I thought the colors were dark and there was too much going on in the scene. It was disturbing and I didn't like the looks on all of their faces. I feel like young kids would like the last painting as well because it would relate to them the most. I have never been huge in to looking at art pieces that are like this, so it was hard for me to really sit and analyze what I thought of them.

  1. The color pink does tend to liven things up. People weren't supposed to smile in Baroque paintings. They were to be impressive and serious, because the idea of being frivolous was blasphemous.

  2. I have to agree with you. The only one that stood out to me was the modern day one. maybe because it is so realistic and not old.

  3. I love how you like the color. Simple and easy not overcomplicated. Bright makes you happy. Well put.

  4. I too liked image 7 but for much different reasons. The colors did not resonate with me like they did for you. I was drawn to her expression. It is intriguing and makes me want to know what she is thinking. It also reminded me of another similar painting that I know. Good post. Keep up the good writing!
