Blog Post #19

I admire my grandma. I knew exactly who I wanted to write about when we got this blog post. I have looked up to my grandma ever since I was a little girl. She plays the roll of a grandma very well. I have always felt welcome at her house and you can rarely go over there with out there being other relatives over visiting. There is always food cooking in the stove and my most favorite is her homemade bread with raspberry jam. My grandma has not missed one of my birthdays and she always gives me a thoughtful card. I hope when I become a grandma
I can have these strengths that she has. I can tell that she really cares about me and she wants me to be happy. I know that I could go to her if I ever needed anything.

My grandma knows everybody at least it feels like it. I always have people telling me how much they love my grandma. She is always sending cards or giving a phone call to somebody who needs it. I would love to be more like this. I want to make other people happy. I love my grandmas big bear hugs and I feel so loved when she puts those arms around me.

I look up to how dedicated my grandma is to her religion and family. She has been a great example to me. She is a great homemaker. I lack in this area of my life. I am a great cook and I cant sew for the life of me. My grandma has taught me some skills and my most favorite was when she taught me how to make scones. Sewing and cooking are all great things but what I love most about my grandma is how welcoming she is to all of her family and friends. She makes me feel loved.

I feel like my hobbies are always changing. I have been taking piano lessons for the last couple months and I love taking the time out of the day to play it. I feel accomplished when I can play a song with out mistakes. Playing the piano calms me down and helps me too not be so stressed out. I love making time out of my schedule to sit down and play. My husband enjoys my playing as well. Once every week I have lessons and I look forward to getting new songs to practice.

Another hobby I have is long boarding. I enjoy the rush of going down a hill with the air rushing past my face. My favorite place to long board is in parking lots. It is hard to do this hobby in the winter so I enjoy when summer comes around. My husband likes to long board with me so it is fun to enjoy long boarding together. I like to listen to my i-pod as well while I long board. It is hard for me to have many hobbies when I am going full time to school and am working full time so it is nice to have a little break in the day when I can long board.

I also love to play volleyball. My husband and I have a volleyball net in our backyard and we love inviting other couples over to play volleyball all night. I am not super great at volleyball but I love to play for fun. It is nice to be outside in the sun because then I can get a tan while doing something I love. It is also a good excuse to have other couples over because it is hard to play volleyball with just my husband and I. In the winter I like to play ping pong. I like to win, especially when I play my husband!

While working at JC Penny I worked with a guy who was a lot of fun, but I felt like his ego was way to big for my taste. There was always a new story about some hot chick that found him irresistible. I would always roll my eyes when he was not looking. I could never figure out if he really was all that and more. Well, this guy kept asking me when I was going to break up with my boy friend so he could take me out. I did not want to date him, I thought he was conceited. We did have some fun times working together but I couldn't get over how high on himself he was.

One day I was working and mr. hot shot had the day off. To my surprise he came walking in with four pretty girls on his arm. I couldn't believe it. All this time he probably was telling the truth, I started to find him a little bit more attractive. I know this sounds shallow, but it's true. I still could not handle his bragging and I was in love with my boyfriend. To my dismay my boyfriend broke my heart and I knew just the guy that would take me out to get my mind off of my love interest. I called Mr. hot shot up and he agreed to take me out.

Surprisingly, it was the best date I had ever been on! He was the sweetest and most thoughtful guy I had ever met. I couldn't believe how harshly I had judged him. I started to like him as a person and the like grew to love and the love grew to couldn't live with out. We are now married and have grown deeper in love every day. I tease him now about pretending to be Mr. hot shot and he claims that he was so in love me that he wanted to make me jealous. The three pretty girls turns out were his sisters, funny I know.

I asked my husband to tell me about a movie he had recently seen. He decided to talk to me about the movie Thor because it is his favorite movie. He likes movies that have special effects, humor, good acting, creativity, action and memorable tag lines that you can quote. He likes movies that are exciting that you can not predict what is going to happen next. He also likes looking for movies with sequels because then he can look forward to when the next one will come out. My husband John, decided that the movie Thor met all of these expectations. The warrior type atmosphere drew him in during this movie and he loved the battle of good versus evil.

His favorite part of the movie is when Thor went to the frost giants and fought them alone and he showed his strength and manliness. He also liked how the main character was sent to earth to learn humility and compassion. The ending of the movie added up to meet all of his expectations. He enjoyed how it left you a little bit hanging, wondering if the main character would ever see his girlfriend on earth again. After watching the movie he left remembering a lot of funny quotes and his favorite one was "You can't stop the mighty Thore" but to his surprise they injected him with a shot that knocked him out. John is super excited to see The Advengers because all of his favorite characters will be in it.

I found it interesting that he chose this movie to talk about because it is definitely a guy movie. I enjoyed it, but I don't know how many times I could watch it. I don't know if men feel macho while watching this movie or if it is all of the action that draws them in but I think lots of males would like this movie. (women too if you like the super hero movie kind of thing.)

I liked the painting number seven the most. I felt like it was a birthday party for a young girl with some friends. The coloring was brighter then all of the rest of the paintings. I liked seeing the balloons and the birthday cake. I am a big fan of birthdays and parties so I could relate to this one the most. I loved the color pink in the painting I felt like it brought out happiness. I also that the dresses the girls were wearing were fun and fascinating to look at. It looks like she got a lot of presents including a dog but I don't understand why the birthday girl doesn't have a smile on her face. It seems like everyone is trying to get her to have a good time but she is not smiling. I like how this piece of art makes you really sit and analyze what could be going on. I felt like all of the other paintings were a bit disturbing. I didn't love them, but when I came to this one I felt like there was better color and happier things going on in the picture. Maybe if I were in a sad depressing mood then I would have liked the other paintings.

In the first art piece it is the same picture but with out the birthday decorations and the color pink. I didn't mind this piece of art but it was a bit boring to me because nothing was going on in the picture. I did not like the fourth art piece. I thought the colors were dark and there was too much going on in the scene. It was disturbing and I didn't like the looks on all of their faces. I feel like young kids would like the last painting as well because it would relate to them the most. I have never been huge in to looking at art pieces that are like this, so it was hard for me to really sit and analyze what I thought of them.

The movie Validation had a good message to send to others. It made me realize how little things can help make a persons day. When the movie started I thought it was going to be about shopping and getting validations so that you do not have to pay for parking. As the movie progressed I came to see that this was not the case. The main character would validate the customers by telling them a compliment. The garage started to get packed everyone wanted to feel good and get validated. He could make even the grumpiest people smile until he meets the girl of his dreams who does not smile. How is he going to bring that smile out? The movie made me laugh because it was really cheezy. The acting was mediocre, but I felt like the actors were able to get the point across they were trying to make. If a well known actor like Brad Pitt and Jennifer Gardner were in this movie, I would have enjoyed it more. The movie was in black and white and so it didn't grab my attention as much as it would have with color.

I enjoyed the underlying message of validating others to make them feel happy and smile. I feel like now days we could use somebody in a parking garage that would give us compliments. I think that compliments can go a long way and I believe that this movie showed that. Over all I thought the acting was a bit corny. The movie gave me a good laugh though and I felt like I learned a good message from the movie. I feel that people who are angry and don't smile would benefit well from watching this movie, and maybe put a smile on there face and that smile would rub off on others around.
